Description

Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is one of the most famous and tragic love stories ever written. Set in the city of Verona, Italy, the play tells the tale of two young lovers—Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet—whose families are bitter enemies.

Despite the hatred between their families, Romeo and Juliet meet by chance at a Capulet party and fall deeply in love. Their love is immediate, intense, and forbidden. Determined to be together, they secretly marry the next day with the help of Friar Laurence. But their happiness is short-lived. A series of violent events and misunderstandings unfolds, including a deadly duel in which Romeo kills Juliet’s cousin, Tybalt. Romeo is banished from Verona, and Juliet is forced into an arranged marriage with another man, Paris.

Desperate to escape her fate and reunite with Romeo, Juliet takes a potion that makes her appear dead. The plan goes terribly wrong. Romeo, unaware that Juliet is still alive, finds her seemingly lifeless and takes his own life. Moments later, Juliet awakens, sees Romeo dead beside her, and ends her own life as well.

The tragic ending forces the Montagues and Capulets to face the cost of their hatred, and they agree to end their feud.
