Description

Maleficent is a fantasy story that reimagines the classic fairy tale Sleeping Beauty — but this time, it’s told from the perspective of the famous villain, Maleficent. Originally created by Disney, Maleficent (especially in the 2014 movie starring Angelina Jolie) shows us that there’s much more to her character than just being a wicked fairy with a grudge.

The story begins with Maleficent as a young fairy, living in the peaceful and magical kingdom called the Moors. She has powerful wings, a deep connection to nature, and a kind heart. She protects the Moors from humans who live in the neighboring kingdom and often seek to harm or steal from her homeland.

One day, Maleficent meets a human boy named Stefan, and they form a friendship that slowly turns into love. However, as they grow older, Stefan becomes ambitious. He betrays Maleficent in a terrible way — stealing her wings to win the favor of the human king and earn the throne for himself. Heartbroken and filled with rage, Maleficent transforms into the dark, powerful figure everyone fears.

As revenge, Maleficent places a curse on Stefan’s newborn daughter, Aurora, declaring that on her sixteenth birthday, she will prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and fall into a sleep like death, only to be awakened by true love’s kiss. Stefan, terrified, hides Aurora away deep in the forest, under the care of three bumbling fairy guardians.

But as the years pass, Maleficent secretly watches over Aurora. Slowly, she comes to care for the girl, seeing her as innocent and good — nothing like her corrupt father. Maleficent tries to undo the curse, but it’s too powerful. In the end, it’s not a prince’s kiss that saves Aurora — it’s Maleficent’s own kiss of true love, showing that love comes in many forms, not just romantic.

The story of Maleficent is about betrayal, revenge, forgiveness, and how a person who’s been hurt can still choose kindness and love. It challenges the idea of heroes and villains by showing that sometimes, people who seem evil are actually victims of great pain. The world is not always black and white — it’s full of complicated feelings and choices.
